| Description & Mission |
Connekt/ITS Netherlands focuses on the improvement of intelligent use of new and existing infrastructure as well as guaranteeing the necessary public support for ITS. Its programme strives to accelerate the development, deployment and use of IT and ICT in on- and off-board solutions in order to increase road safety and to stimulate a better use of existing infrastructure and transport systems.
Its main goal is to optimise the application of ICT in traffic and transport so that systems will become safer, more efficient, more comfortable and environmentally friendly. ITS Netherlands, a co-operation organisation, fills the need for structural and action-based consultation between the main parties concerned, focusing on current ITS issues and subject areas.
Connekt/ITS Netherlands constantly strives to expand the network of stakeholders, shareholders and international partners to ensure that the ‘mobility network’ is and remains a lasting and active network. To achieve this, it puts organisations in contact with each other, organises thematic platforms to allow members to exchange knowledge, and it initiates actions and projects. All the activities are based on the three main themes:
• Accessibility mainports and logistics; • ICT in mobility; • Urban accessibility and Spatial Planning.
The signals for initiatives come from the network or from developments in society, which Connekt shares with its network. Connekt primarily offers services that allow its members, also in co-operation with other parties, to further develop in the field of mobility.
