Description & Mission	ITS Romania is a non-profit and non-governmental professional organization aiming to promote, correlate, implement and integrate Intelligent Transport Systems. ITS Romania has two main activities: - to promote ITS field in Romania - research and consultancy in ITS at national and international level ITS Romania’s strategy can be defined as follows: - To promote products and services that ensures the interoperability and integration at national level and with the European transport network; - To cooperate in common interest and information transfer projects at a national, regional and international level; - To provide the technical and legal framework for the efficient deployment of Intelligent Transport Systems - To support the development of a Intelligent Transport Systems based market ITS Romania is currently fostering two types of dedicated technical and coordination platforms: - four working groups dealing with specific activities: Digital Navigation Charts, eSafety Forum, Romanian RIS-VTMIS Forum and ITS for Railway Transport Forum - a National Network of Research Centres in ITS field
Main Achievements	• National promotion and national coordination of European projects EasyWay II and HeERO • Development of national minimum ITS requirements for TEN-T forth corridor • Advanced research and national coordination in the RIS field • Feasibility Study for the implementation of the National RIS System on the Danube and Danube-Black Sea Canal
Current and Future actions	• Development of national eCall implementation strategy • Development of national ITS Action Plan • Development of national River Information Services (RIS) strategy • Organize National ITS Conference in 2011
