Description & Mission

TTS Italia aims to:

  • foster the deployment and diffusion of Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS) in Italy in the most effective manner for users
  • monitor the development of Italian ITS sector through the National ITS Observatiory
  • disseminate knowledge and information on ITS in Italy. Italy has recently released the ITS National Architecture (ARTIST) that provides the common framework for steering ITS projects towards solutions which are compatible with national and European policies
  • stimulate discussion of themes of strategic interest with the aim of working towards a common architecture/framework/design.
  • sustain collaboration and consensus formation for technical, organisational and institutional solutions.
  • manage Working Groups on themes strategic for the Italian ITS sector
  • increase awareness and spread information about ITS Systems in Italy

  • Dissemination activities of the National ITS Architecture project (on the behalf of the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport)
  • Management of the Italian stand at ITS World Congresses: Sydney (2001), Madrid (2003), Nagoya (2004), London (2006) 
Current and Future actions
  • TTS Italia has been appointed by the Italian Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport to elaborate a proposal for a National ITS Strategic Plan.
  • In collaboration with the Italian International Trade Institute, TTS Italia is undertaking actions for promoting the ITS national sector worldwide in terms of products, solutions and services
  • To carry out training activities (TTS Italia manages all the lessons on ITS of the Special Master on Road Safety issued by the University of Florence)

TTS Italia is the Italian ITS Association. It was founded in March 1999 by a group of both public and private organisations active in the sector of Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS).


The Association has been established with the aim to contribute to the improvement of efficiency and safety of Italian transport systems, in the conviction that ITS Systems constitute an indispensable instrument for the modernisation of the country’s transport systems and the improvement of safety and security conditions.
