ITS Hellas is launched

Key players from the Greek transport, telecommunications and IT sectors will meet in Athens on 1 October 2007 to discuss ITS applications in Greece and to celebrate the launch of the Greek non-profit association “ITS Hellas”. At the meeting, the drafted statutes, objectives and benefits of the ITS Hellas association will be presented to its new members. ERTICO – ITS Europe Partners Navteq, ICCS and CERTH are organising the event. The meeting will feature a presentation by ERTICO CEO Arnold Van Zyl on ERTICO activities and the importance of ITS in Europe, and will be hosted by ATTIKES DIADROMES S.A. High-level participants from Greece and Europe expected to participate include representatives from the:
• Greek Ministry for Transport and Ministry for the Environment, Physical Planning and Public Works • ITS associations in Europe • Relevant industries and SMEs • Universities and research institutes • All four areas of transport applications (road, sea, rail and air transport)
The aim of the "ITS Hellas" association is to promote the development and use of ITS in Greece and the export of Greek technology and experience abroad, while also working towards increasing road safety, environmental protection, mobility and comfort of the public.
