ITS Hungary holds end of year closing session

ITS Hungary held its Year-end Closing Ceremony on 10 December 2007.

At the meeting Chairman Mr. Lajos Szűcs reviewed the performance of the association throughout the year, highlighting the significance of the “ITS Hungary Honour of Excellence” award.  This prize will be announced again in 2008.

ITS Hungary’s plans for 2008 were outlined by Secretary General Dr. Ágnes Lindenbach eliciting valuable additional suggestions from the members of the association.  

The ceremony was distinguished by the presence of the honourable guest Dr. Zita Gurmai, Member of the European Parliament.  Dr. Gurmai is a rapporteur to the European Commission in an especially exciting area of ITS relating to “i2010 Intelligent Car Initiative”.

MEP Gurmai expressed keen interest in the activities of the ITS Hungary and requested the comments of the association as an NGO on the intelligent car, and more specifically the First Intelligent Car Report communication from the European Commission.

Mr. Sándor László, Chief Executive Officer of the Hungarian Public Roads Co. also attended the event.  Mr. László said his organisation would be joining ITS Hungary in 2008, considering the broad range of GPS and ITS activities performed or assisted by them (Road Data Bank, CONNECT Project, EASYWAY).
