ITS Slovakia becomes newest member of ITS Network!

Creation date: 06 June 2005

6 June 2005 - ITS Slovakia (Inteligentné Dopravné Systémy Slovensko - IDS Slovensko) has joined the ERTICO-initiated Network of National ITS Associations as its 17th member. The Network, officially launched in October 2004, is a grouping of national ITS interests formed in order to ensure that ITS knowledge and information is transmitted to all actors at the local and national level - such as small and medium sized companies - and support ITS promotion from the ground up.

ITS Slovakia was formed in 2000 and currently has 21 members. It works in cooperation with ERTICO Partner Slovak Ministry of Transport, Posts and Communications and other public sector bodies in order to build ITS strategies and norms, as well as participate in EU-funded projects such as CONNECT. Its President is Dr Tibor Schlosser and its Chairman is Dr Svetozár Hegyi, CSc.

The organisation has already contributed to the ITS system architecture for Slovakia and the national strategic plan for ITS, as well as a model solution for a pilot project about ITS applications on Slovak highways.

It also participated in the Network of National ITS Associations meeting in Prague in March 2005 (see below).
