ITS United Kingdom Awards for Excellence

The 2007/08  ITS United Kingdom Awards for Excellence, given to the most worthy ITS people, products and services were presented at the awards ceremony held as part of the 2008 ITS (UK) President’s Dinner in the City of London.

Following a very close selection from the excellent shortlist, Steven Norris, President of ITS United Kingdom and Chair of the 2007/08 ITS (UK) Awards for Excellence judging panel, made three awards in the following categories:-

Area Wide Schemes:
The Kent Fastrack bus information system for its pioneering approach to local urban regeneration using innovative technology to completely overturn passenger perception and experience of bus transport.

The Transport for London iBus project which was designed and implemented in response to the growth in the number of buses in service in London.  iBus gives accurate vehicle location information enabling on-board real time passenger information and more effective service control, as well as providing a more reliable expandable radio system and platform for future development.

Award for Outstanding Contribution:
Dr John Miles of Ankerbold for his contribution, during a career of over 30 years, to the development and outreach of ITS.

ITS (UK) announced its new annual Awards in March 2006.  The judging panel has been chaired by ITS (UK) President and former Transport Minister, Steven Norris.
