The European Directive on intelligent transport systems: requirements for Italy
Creation date: 17 January 2011
The meeting on “The European Directive on intelligent transport systems: requirements for Italy and opportunities for the sector”, organized by the Italian Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport in collaboration with TTS Italia was held on 15 December, with more than 170 participants. The event was the occasion for a first review and discussion of the contents and proposals prepared so far in Italy as well as evaluation of opportunities from the Directive, also in order to stimulate discussion and possible future contributions.
In fact, on the 26 August, the European Directive on Intelligent Transport Systems came into force with its transposition expected by February 27, 2012. In this context, TTS Italia and the Ministry of Infrastructures and Transport, our founding member, started work on the establishment of a National Action Plan on ITS in response to the Directive.
At the event participants included represenatives from: Italian Ministry of Transport; Eni, Italian Oil Company; of UIRNET, the national system for the logistics; and Albo degli Autotrasportatori (roster for drivers). The meeting also included a Round Table titled: “ITS Directive: requirement or opportunity?” in which several representatives of transport, logistic and telecommunication took part.
