TTS Italia: Ten years of Intelligent Mobility

Rome, 1st of July- TTS Italia, the Italian ITS Association, on the 23rd of June celebrated in Rome its first ten years with the Event called “Dieci anni di Mobilità Intelligente” (Ten years of Intelligent Mobility). The Event, was opened in the morning by the President of the Association, Mr. Gioacchino Gabbuti who showed some of the results obtained in Italy thanks to ITS Systems: air pollution reduced by 10%, higher local transport efficiency by 10%, safer road and transport by 10-15%, energy consumption off by 12%.

The President underlined that TTS Italia dedicated the last 10 years to create a safer, more sustainable and more efficient mobility. TTS Italia was born in 1999 thanks to a few private and public organizations who first believed in the great ITS potential. Today, TTS Italia has more than 70 members who has a turnover of around 500 millions of Euro together.

At the Event, amongst others, Mr. Roberto Maroni, Ministry of the Interior  underlined the importance of the ITS Systems especially for the urban video surveillance and of developing a unique number for e-Call; Mr. Antonio Tajani, the Vice President of the European Commission and European Commissioner for Transport who marked the strategic role played by the ITS Action Plan; Mr. Sergio Marchi, the Councilor responsible for the Mobility in Rome who remembered that Rome was one of the first European cities to introduce ITS for urban transport.

The Event was completed by an exhibition area realized thanks to the support of TTS Italia members and by a photographic exhibition on ITS Systems evolution.
